Everyone’s had those “ah-ha!” moments where they realize something they use pretty regularly has additional functionality that they weren’t aware of. This article is intended to bring to light the differences and features that you may not be aware of within our Android and iOS mobile apps, as well as introduce what’s possible on the Base mobile app for users who spend most of their time using Base’s web application.
iOS or Android?
The big debate. Talk around whether iPhones or Androids are better doesn’t end, and as a support specialist answering requests from prospects and customers, salespeople want to know which Base mobile app is better and will help them sell more.
When it comes to the Base mobile apps for iOS and Android, they differ in functionality slightly when compared side by side, but value to sales professionals can be found across the board. In case you’re not aware of some of the functionality you have on one app versus the other, let’s discuss.
The area of the app that you’ll find differs the most when comparing iOS and Android is voice functionality.
“Can calls be recorded when made through the Base mobile app?”
This is a common question that arises for new mobile users, so here's your answer:
Not any call you make through your Base Android app will record, however. Any call made through the app can be logged for tracking and reporting purposes, but only calls made using your selected Base Voice number will record from the mobile app.
Android contact integration
“If someone stored as a Lead or Contact in Base calls my mobile number, as opposed to my Base Voice number, will Base recognize that the person calling is a Lead or Contact?”
Yes, with the help of the Android Contact Integration.
When you turn on the Android Contact Integration, an option only on the Android Base mobile app, all of your Base Contacts will be imported to your Android address book. Then, any time you receive a call to your mobile number from a Base Contact or Lead, Base will recognize the number and display the Lead or Contact name, as well as prompt you with the option to log the call after it has ended.

Sync historical calls and texts made on your Android mobile number to your Base Android app to view past communication with Leads or Contacts using the Telephony Integration. Base will scan the call and text logs on your Android device and match past calls and texts to existing Leads and Contacts in Base. You can find the option to enable the Telephony Integration under your Android Voice Settings on the mobile app.
"Can I upload documents to Base’s Document Repository through the Base mobile app?"
If you’re uploading documents from your iOS device to the iOS Base mobile app, then yes. iOS users can get started adding documents from their device under “Document Settings” on the app.
Optimize your mobile app usage
Now that we’ve discussed some functionality differences between the iOS and Android app, let’s chat about some tips for optimizing Base for our mobile heavy users or those just getting started with the Base mobile app.
Global search is your friend
For those of you with a good amount of data, you may notice that not ALL data from the web application syncs immediately to the mobile app. For accounts with a lot of data, Base will sync the most relevant data to the mobile app. It’s not always perfect so if you notice a task is not appearing on one of your many contacts, this is where the Global Search bar can become your best friend.
For any Lead, Contact, or Deal data that you’re not able to find on the app, try searching for the record or item (i.e Task, Appointment) using the global search bar – this tool allows you to grab data from the web that is not currently synced to the Base mobile app.
Use mobile to log visits to leads
The ultimate solution for outside sales reps: when making a visit to a Lead, log the Visit through the mobile app and assign custom Visit Outcomes. Visits must be enabled on the web by an account admin, which is why the feature is sometimes overlooked.

Set your Base mobile app up for optimal performance
Regardless of whether you’re an iOS or Android user, ensuring you have the latest version of the Base mobile app is one step toward setting your team up for optimal performance. The same goes for ensuring that you have the latest iOS or Android OS update.
Finally, to help increase the speed and performance of the Base app, try closing any other applications that you’re not using. Applications running in the background can occupy system resources and slow down the Base mobile app.
