Zendesk Appoints New Directors to Support Growing APAC Team

July 9, 2013

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – July 9, 2013 – Zendesk, the proven cloud-based customer service software provider, today announced the appointment of Amy Foo as finance director for Asia Pacific and Daniel Scheltinga as support and services director for Asia Pacific.

As part of a rapidly growing team in Australia and the wider APAC region, Amy Foo will be responsible for finance and HR while Daniel Scheltinga will be responsible for continually growing support teams in Melbourne, Tokyo and Manila.

Based in Zendesk’s APAC headquarters in Melbourne, Amy and Daniel will be an integral part of the team as Zendesk continues its growth both in Australia and across the Asia Pacific region.

Amy joins Zendesk from her most recent role at Serena Software where she was finance manager for APAC. An accomplished financier in the APAC region with over 14 years’ experience, Amy has worked in Singapore, Malaysia and Australia for organisations such as Ogilvy & Mather, BEA Systems, KPMG, IBM and Ernst & Young. A member of CPA Australia, CPA Singapore and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, Amy is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and Malay.

“The culture at Zendesk really appealed to me. It’s a fast growing company but they also know how to have fun, so I’m thrilled be part of the team. I’m looking forward to driving the finance function across the Asia Pacific region and playing a key role in the strategic direction of the business,” said Amy Foo, finance director, APAC, Zendesk.

Joining Zendesk from his most recent role as general manager of operations and professional services at HR technology provider, Navigo, Daniel is an experienced leader in IT support and services with a passion for delivering great customer service. Before moving to Navigo, Daniel spent seven years with Swinburne University’s IT services department undertaking roles such as IT project manager, IT procurement manager, IT leased asset coordinator and desktop support technician. Daniel holds a Master of Information Systems

Management, an MBA and a Bachelor of Business, all from Swinburne University of Technology.

“Joining the Zendesk team was an easy decision.  We used their software at my previous company Navigo and were very happy with the value it provided to our organisation.  My new role allows me to build on the great customer service Zendesk already provides while at the same time establish scalable processes and systems that will support Zendesk’s growth in the years ahead,” said Daniel Scheltinga, support and services director, Zendesk.

Michael Folmer Hansen, vice president and managing director for Zendesk in Asia Pacific, is pleased to welcome the two senior team members: “At Zendesk, we like to hire not only intelligence and aptitude but those who share our vision and culture. Amy and Daniel are amongst the best and brightest in their field and fantastic assets to our Asia Pacific team.”

“The Zendesk Asia Pac office started with two people in Melbourne less than two years ago and has now grown to over 35 staff in 4 cities, serving nearly 3,500 customers,” said Hansen. “With Amy and Daniel as important senior members of our team, we hope to double Zendesk’s headcount and customer base across the region over the next twelve months.”
